So for awhile now, the Holy Spirit has really had me stuck in the Book of Hosea to show God to me as a lover. But what I found was something so much greater than finding out that God loves me..here’s what I found.
God has really used and is still using this book to both show me Himself as not just a God that loves us and cares for us way beyond anything that the human being could even begin to do, ( way too long run on sentence) but that He is also Faithful and True to Himself. He is Faithful to finish the work that He has started.
Wow, ( I think that this might be a long post, sorry guys..) So here we go with this adventure here..
Hosea 1:1-2 MESSAGE version.
This is God’s Message to Hosea son of Beeri. It came to him during the royal reigns of Judah’s kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. This was also the time that Jeroboam son of Joash was king over Israel. This Whole Country Has Become a Whorehouse
2 The first time God spoke to Hosea he said:
“Find a whore and marry her.
Make this whore the mother of your children.
And here’s why: This whole country
has become a whorehouse, unfaithful to me, God.”
Alright, now I read this in NKJV and instead of the word “Whore”, the NKJV says the word Harlot. Now when I first really began to read and chew on these couple of verses my brain decided to start thinking..what is a harlot?
A harlot is someone who willfully goes and has sex, right? They go and be intimate with partner, after partner, after partner never becoming faithful to one individual, only to them selves.
So G-D Almighty is telling Hosea, “Hey, Hosea I want you to go and become One with someone who is unfaithful AND have kids with her!” And not only that, but their children have a seed of unfaithfulness in them! (I hope that makes sense)
CRAZY HUH!
And G-D tells Hosea to do all of this because G-D’s OWN PEOPLE HAVE WILFULLY CHOSEN TO LEAVE HIM. The NKJV says that ” …for the land has committed GREAT Harlotry, by DEPARTING from the LORD.”
The fact that GOD says that….My own people have decided that their own way is better than mine, so they have left me!!! what the crap! Why do we do that?? I am totally no exception to this at all..by no means! I can recall multiple times where I have “played the Harlot” to G-D and have said to Him, that my way is better than His own. But in the latter chapters of Hosea, G-D is still running after His own people and even takes everything away from them just so they can repent. He really is Faithful and True to His word. He even goes sodar to say in verse 10 of Chapter 2 that “..no one shall deliver her from my Hand.” Once He has us, He has us! He keeps those who are His forever..How? I am convinced that it is by His own Spirit working in our lives. ( Sorry, I am tieing in alot of NT promised with OT scripture, but please try to see where I am coming from here.)
When He says that I WANT A HOLY PEOPLE. He will get it. He will get us!
Now I really want to get into something here. The Bridal paradigm. Whenever I began to read this book, G-D began to show me something about the bridal paradigm that I have, heard but never really seen myself.
In the 1st Chapter. Like I said already G-D tells Hosea to go and marry a Harlot and have sex with her and bare children. When I read this and thought & prayed about it. I though to myself, “Why would God use such strong words and why the marriage analogy?” And what I got out of it was this.
Marriage is by far the most intimate and expressive act of love, selflessness and devotion to oneanother that we as humans can do right? If we are really in love with someone, we make the decision to wilfully become one with them in a relationship. A covenant. A PARTNERSHIP DEDICATED TO FAITHFULLNESS BECAUSE WE LOVE THEM!!!!
When this came to me, it all really began to go *Click*. G-D used the marriage analogy because it is the closest thing that He can use to let us know what He wants.
He is looking for people who will be Faithful Partners with Him in His endeavor to build His Kingdom in our Hearts. Jesus’s Sacrifice is kind of like the ring, we are one with God through the sacrifice of Christ, and the Spirit is how we know God…..I really don’t want to say what the Spirit symbolizes. ha ha. Ummmm, I guess I will just say that we can have communion with G-D. There, that makes it better.
Now I want to make it clear, I really don’t think that I am married to Jesus in the sense of when He comes back I am going to be in a dress and we are going to really get married. I just think that God is looking for people who will be faithful to Him, whose hearts are truly His, and will partner with Him under a covenant of Faithfullness. And that the Marriage analogy here is the most close and personal way that God chose to symbolize how he wants our relationship with Him to be. A very real, close and intimate one out of Trust and Love.
GOD ALMIGHTY is looking for people who love Him and will be Faithful to Him. He is Faithful to His part of the deal and He loves us more than any human being ever could. I am totally convinced of this, that eventually our human nature will kick in and we will begin to look out for ourselves and let the other person continue in their own ways. But I am convinced that God is always working in and around us. That He never gives up on those who are His. He Loves us more than we can even begin to love Him and yet He wants to be in a relationship with us. How breathtaking and wonderful is that? He just wants us to be Faithful…man, God is good.
After all, Jesus makes it very clear that the only ones who will enter into His Kingdom and Joy, are the Faithful right?
Matt. 25v 21: His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
HOW AMAZING IS ALL OF THIS??
This is so beautiful! I feel like we try so hard to add to the simplicity of the Gospel because it seems TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. The fact that our relationship with Christ does not hinge on our performance but in Him and what he has already done only makes me want to worship me all the more!
I love you brother and I know that God is rocking your world right now. Persevere and continue to DELIGHT in His goodness.
